SECRET SINS
By Robert Courtney

There are many examples in the Bible that deal with sins that we believe are kept secret. In the very beginning Adam and Eve believed their sin was kept in secret (Gen.3). However, their conversation with God revealed their sin. Abel’s murder by Cain in Genesis 4:1-16 was not known by anyone and Cain believed he could get away with the murder of his brother. Another example is David and Bathsheba found in 2 Samuel 11, 12:1-24. David sin with Bathsheba and the murder of Uriah was known by others but they kept David’s secret. However, 2 Samuel 12:12 Nathan tells David while he did this in secret God knew what David did.
Each of these examples were done in secret. However, God knew what these individuals did and knew their reasoning. We are just like them. We believe that no one knows what we did and that may be true; but, God knows. “If He goes by me, I do not see Him;If He moves past; I do not perceive; If He takes away, who can hinder Him?” (Job 9:11-13).
God is everywhere! He sees all things and knows all things. “…He who formed you from the womb;”(Isa.44:24) From our conception He knows us. Throughout our lives He knows everything about us; hence we do not hide anything from Him.
It is through His love for us that He allows us to repent of our sins and helps us to walk worthy of Him.

‘… that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Eph. 1:17).
