RIGHTEOUSNESS OF A NATION
By Robert Courtney

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34

The nation of Israel is a lesson, in which we need to take to heart. We can read of its turning away from God time and time again throughout its history, and the results of their turning away, the final destruction of their nation.
The destruction of Israel did not begin with the people but with its leaders and those who counseled the leaders. The leaders encouraged false worship of idols and immorality in which the people readily accepted and followed.

Jesus said in Luke 6:39, “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch?”

In our nation today, that which was right has now become wrong, and that which was wrong has now become right. Our government has now become one of immorality; murder, lies, homosexual, fornication, adultery and stealing have become the norm of acceptability. Public praying and the mentioning of God or Christ are now being regulated to such an extent that people are avoiding mentioning their names less they are persecuted.

There is a way that seems right to man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12

We, as Christians should look at ourselves and decide just whom we are going to follow. As John said in 1 John 4:1, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirit, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
