What is
Your Religion?
By Luke Shira
Just
because someone says they have gone to worship God, does not mean
they really have. Some folks practice Devil worship, that is their
religion. We recognize the religion of the Jews, the Buddhist, the
Hindu, the Baptist, the Methodist, the Seven Day Adventist. They all
have religion, that none can deny, but is it the religion
of Christ? Remember Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation
in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given
among men whereby we must be saved.” Verse 11 tells us whose
name we are saved by, the one that said, “...I will build My
church” (Matthew 16:18).
I would
be afraid to try and say my religion is based on anything other than
the doctrine of Jesus Christ. Too many folks are basing their
salvation on the false premise that you can do anything religiously
and it is alright with God. Have you not read where Jesus
said, “And if man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him
not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He
that rejecteth Me and receiveth not My words hath one that judgeth
him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the
last day” (John 12:47-48). How can we say we are practicing
Christian Religion when we completely ignore the doctrines of Christ?
It would be well to remember what Jesus said, “If ye love me,
keep my commandments” (John 14:15). It is easy to see our
religion must be based on love. Do you love the Lord?

The line:
These are times that try men’s souls is truly thought
provoking, given the events of the present state of our world. It is
not enough that the world is becoming, it seems, more corrupt every
day, and that worldliness is more and more prevalent in every facet
of life. Certainly, these are tests of the Christian’s faith, but
add to that the uncertainties thrust upon the world by the turbulence
and turmoil wrought by the threat of global war, and one has what
appears to be an over whelming demand upon the faith of God’s
children. But, all should know “the trying of your faith works
patience…” (James 1:3).
