YOU ARE TO BE “HOLY”
By Robert Courtney

In Leviticus 11:44 and 1Peter 1:15-16 we are commanded to be “HOLY”.
What does it mean to be “HOLY”?

Peter tells us in vs. 15 that we are to be like the Holy One (God) who has called us, thus the Christian holiness is to be like God’s.

We are to emulate His Holiness.

The word Holy comes from the Greek word “hagios pronounced: hag'-ee-os, or the Hebrew word qadash pronounced: kaw-dash'. Both words are defined as to be scared, pure, morally blameless or religious, consecrated, saint like; or morally clean.

The only way a one can emulate God’s Holiness is too draw close to Him through His Word (James 4:8). It is through this emulation that we become obedient unto God and His Word. It is by His Word we obtain salvation and receive the gift of life (2Timothy 3:16; Matthew 7:21).

While there are people in and outside His church that believe there is a God and claim they are followers of Christ, they are not. One may believe or claim anything thing they want, but it does not make it fact, thus they are lost and lost forever (Jeremiah 5:30-31; Matthew 7:22). Let US be holy as He is holy.

“There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.” I Samuel 2:2

“Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just and good.” Romans 7:12

“And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3

“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world begin.” 2 Timothy 1:9
