What Do You See

By Tom Moore

We are all watchers, but few really see. Many watched the birds fly, but it was the Wright brothers who saw that their wings were curved on the upper surface, thus enabling us to fly, too. Many had seen the lowly peanut plant, but Dr. George Washington Carver saw in it a host of products and derivatives that have blessed our lives. Many biologists had watched mold form in the culture dish, but Alexander Fleming saw penicillin and an advance in human health resulted.

What did the Almighty see in Paul, the persecutor of the church? He saw a man with the potential and the ability of spreading the gospel to the Gentile world (Acts 9:15-16). What did Ananias see? He saw a man that does evil to Christians (Acts 9:13).

What did Jesus see as He watched the poor widow give her few mites? He saw sacrifice (Lk. 21:4)! Others, perhaps, only saw her giving a small amount.

What are we seeing in others? Do we only see what they are, or what they can be? Always remember the power of the Gospel to change lives (Rom. 1:16).

The Kind Of Religion Some Want

By Tom Moore

We are creatures of comfort. Unfortunately, there are many who want a religion that is comfortable.

Some want a religion that teaches:

A crown … but without a cross

A heaven … but no hell

A hope … but no fear

The love of God … but no wrath of God

The promises of God … without the warnings of God

Knowledge … without study

Salvation … without conversion

Evangelism … without work

Patience … without trials

Victory … without the battles

Will such a religion as we have described get us to heaven?
